Debbie

I remember when you got upset over letting your dog go. I accept when death and when it si the end and will do the right thing if they are suffering and in pain.

But it was such a shock. In my arms two judders head went floppy and he was gone. Told vet he was deteriorating fast - cold, listless, not eating. Vet said he just had bad diet and constipation. That wasn't what was on my knee and on my towels. said he would be on the mend and be ok in the morning.

Knew he was ill. I am a nurse afterall. Feel I let the bunny down as I let the vet patronise me and brow beat me down. Couldn't get past their need to sell me a big bag of rabbit food . Now i have a big bag of food and no rabbit.

Pity he didn't get round to breeding. Breeder has offered me one of her litter. Picking one up this Thursday.

Still isn't Brian.

Its just the shock.

That is really nice Teebis and DT.

I set some Brian pictures up on my screen saver froegtting that some other pictures were already there. After the pictures of Brian came pictures or a sun kissed meadow at dawn, a babbling brook surrounded with heather and a wooded walk. It was only an accident but the juxtaposition made me cry again. I hope he is in such a place.

OK I'm a softy. Wish he had had a chance of having bunny and making babies. He was just coming up to mating with two bunnies. Life is a bastard in more than one way.

June.

I am sorry about your bunny.

I know how much you loved him.

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they each miss someone very special, someone who was left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly, he breaks from the group, flying over the green grass, faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into those trusting eyes, so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together... *Author Unknown*

My vision
of a lilac world
is held in trust for me
by friends
who will never know
they are friends.
And lovers Ive held
only once.

I would let them know, but how ?
I would fit them in, but when ?
Still no ones needs
are that of being
fitted in.

Every man demands
his full round
share of time.

But on those few
who have found the time
to fit me in,
schedule me somehow
within their crowded lives.
They are remembered
almost daily.
At night
each of them returns
every bit as real
as lilac smells
on April days.

-from 1972 Rod McKuen Animal Concern Calendar

I wish it was original, but as usual, Mr. McKuen comes through for me. Bless your heart, Junie. I am so very sorry for you loss of Brian.

Sorry Junie, I know it is difficult to say good-bye to a beloved pet, be it rabbit, cat, dog, goldfish, etc.

My Montgomery Jack has now been gone a year, due to a trailer accident followed by a vet (not my vet) screw-up. Of all the horses I have trained, ridden, and loved, I just cannot get over Monty. That big boy gave his heart and soul in every event, and loved every minute of it. I could put a two-year old on his back and he would immediately sense the little person, and would stand stock-still waiting to see what I would ask of him. His favourite past-time was our "giddy-up" time, though, without all the flashy saddle and equitation gear - simply a Western saddle and me wanting to ride like the wind - man he could move.

Monty, Momma still misses you.
